Some labels start in a studio; FAF started in a DJ booth. Kazuho Arai and Tsukasa Takabayashi, members of the Tokyo creative collective YOUTHQUAKE, first played out together as Fake Ass Flowers before launching the label in 2018. Early pieces were screen-printed cut-and-sewn released through pop-ups, all built around one tension: the city against nature, with a utopian sub-theme the pair call The New Commune.
