part/WHOLE

part/WHOLE is a design practice built around elemental forces and industrial materials. Founded by Stephen, the studio draws from the textures and tones of the natural world — vegetation, dirt, murky water, moss, fog — and translates them into hand-dyed, hand-textured garments and objects where no two pieces are exactly alike. Collections named STORM, SMOULDER, and INFERNO carry both material and spiritual weight: the brand's references span John Martin's apocalyptic paintings, Bill Viola's elemental video works, Cai Guo-Qiang's gunpowder installations, and Bosco Sodi's raw earth compositions. The output moves between I-Beam bracelets corroded in copper, silver, and gold and cotton utility pieces hand-worked and washed into their finish. Object-making as a meditative act. Process as the product.
