Sunday Morning Jazz: Trippy

The 1970's were an interesting time in jazz. Many of the giants began to cross over into various forms of musical experimentation, and often times these exploratory trips into the recording studio would not go over well with "jazz purists". One such experimental project was a supergroup known as Weather Report. Weather Report's roster was as star studded as they came with members Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Airto Moreira, and Jaco Pastorius to name only four. Mr. Gone is a look into the group's middle period when Zawinul, and Pastorius were essentially in charge. With this album one can hear many of the synths, and bass lines that would later be sampled and augmented to create some of the more memorable pieces in hip hop history. Have a Trippy Sunday morning, wherever you are...
