Sunday Morning Jazz

Music
BlackUnityFist Pharoah Sanders is one of the architects of the free sound, and Black Unity is one of the perfect examples of that sound. One album, one track (37 minutes and some change) of pure free sound. The credits on this piece read like a who's who of jazz all-stars: Stanley Clarke on second bass, Norman Connors on second drums, and Carlos Garnett joins Sanders on tenor sax. Sanders cut his free teeth with John Coltrane during his shift over to the free sound in the mid 60's, and he continued the sound long after the death of his dear friend. The echoes of Coltrane's soul can be heard throughout the songs of many free players, and arrangers, and it can be heard here. This album is a classic. Enjoy it on this Sunday wherever you are in the world...
