Ever wonder what influences an artist's output?
Gerhard Richter's Atlas provides us a glimpse into the artist's life and the events surrounding it that has prompted ideas for his hazy, photo realistic paintings. The archive of images are laid out in a chronological manner which allows the viewer to see the correlation between what was happening in the world at the time Richter's paintings were being made. This collection of images include pornography, concentration camps, flowers, members of Baader-Meinhof, friends and family, and news clippings that Richter himself has been collecting since 1945.
Atlas maps the thoughts and process behind the living legend's masterpieces. Take a look into Richter's head.
